Salutations Fisherfolk,

When you live off in the tropics as I have for the past thirty odd years, odd coming from the way I lived those years, it is easy to overlook some of the holidays celebrated in other parts of the world. One such holiday is Thanksgiving, which is solely celebrated in the United States, unless you are an American soldier stationed overseas, which means you get a heaping helping of canned turkey and ham, freeze dried dressing, some red stuff they tell you is cranberry sauce but makes your plate look like they didn't bleed out the turkey sufficiently, and pumpkin pie. This explains why the American soldier fights so well during the month of December, because he spends all month mad knowing he will be forced to eat the same tasteless meal again at Christmas. I, on the other hand, take great joy in counting my blessings, which to an outsider might seem trivial, but to me are priceless.
Ya'll don't get your Fruit-of-the Looms in a wad, I'll talk about fishing in a minute.
I am thankful of the fact I know how to fish a Thruster Tail (turbocharged Little George bait) and catch loads of big fish with it, while few, if any, of my friends can.
I am thankful none of my three watchdogs at my house have eaten anymore of our yard furniture lately, nor bitten me just for practice. I am especially grateful that Bubblegum, who is by far the most piss ignorant dog ever to set foot on this earth, has decided to not eat my house out from under us, but is now concentrating on perfecting his disguise of being an abandoned 55 gallon barrel.
I am thankful that my hairlipped brother-in-law/driver/mechanic/plumber/electrician/scrounger, Octavio, has repented his wicked ways for the 93rd time, and has again returned to the fold for another unknown period of time before I fire him yet again.
I am especially thankful that you still find it enjoyable to come fishing with me at Headwaters Fishing Club, because without you, I wouldn't have a chance to write unadulterated garbage like this ever so often.
Shame on any of you that didn't come see me the pàst few months whiloe the lake was brim full and holding at that level. While the numbers of fish wasn't great, the size of the fish we encountered made up for it. I can't remember a time this decade where we boated so many fish from 15-21 lbs. Lucky for you we are still doing it though, so you haven't totally missed your opportunity.
During this last few months, my guides have discovered several brand new areas for our clients to catch monster size peacock bass and payara. Requiring only 5-10 minutes more than we normally run to our fishing areas, these new places hold great promise for the future.
Any of you that have been holding out for the topwater bite to improve, you need wait no longer. Woodchoppers, Pavon Props, which I highly recommend using, Super Spooks, Chug Bugs, and pretty much any other bait with hooks that floats will produce heart stopping strikes. Colors haven't mattered as much as action with the baits, so it pretty much boils down to if you can throw it out and give it action, the fish will hit it.
The fall spawn finished a few weeks ago, so the fish will be schooling up and feeding heavily in preparation for the major spawn, which normally occcurs the first full moon of March. Thisa is the time of the year when you find noit one or two big fish in an area, but numbers of them just waiting for yuou to throw something in their strike zone.
There are still openings between now and March, so if getting your string stratched by a big peacock bass excites you, all you have to do is contact me, and I'll try my best to help you organize a fishing trip that dreams are made of. At HFC you don't have to be a professional fisherman to catch a monster size fish, because my guides and I will do whatever it takes to assist you throughout your trip.
For your viewing pleasure, I have attached just a couple of photos taken when Angel and I were recently investigating this new area I have been talking about. Makes a person downright envious, doesn't it?
Please make a note that the phone number at the camp has changed, and it is now 0285-615-9530.
Everyone have a GREAT week!!!
